Speculative design project I worked on for a local vintage clothing retailer. Their service is basically a curated collection of fashionable vintage items geared towards a primarily young creative customer base. With that in mind, the goal was to create a clean, professional and attractive mark that resonated with their main demographic while still remaining broadly appealing to customers outside that description.
A major consideration for the shape and style was the use of social media as a primary driver of sales and marketing. The mark was intended to perform well in a digital environment (i.e. profile pictures, thumbnails, icons) as well as in it's physical applications.
Clothing tags remain simplistic, not only for the purpose of catering to the bohemian aesthetic. One of the core principles of the owners mission, as well as the mission of many resale-based business, is the concept of recycling and the reduction of waste. Tags are printed on recycled/recyclable stock using one color printing to remain in-line with this ideal.
Example of how well the mark can exist in a social media environment. Conforms with the round user icons found on all major platforms. Visually distinctive and recognizable even without the logotype included.
The logo lends itself well to other branded items like stickers, patches, t-shirts, etc. This application should not be overlooked. Since their main business is the resale of other brands, it's important to have some kind of mechanism for organic advertising from their patrons. A stylish accessory/adornment like this seeks to achieve just that.
